Charter Felicitation, Chennai

On November 22nd, 20013, the Chennai chapter of IAIP hosted a Charter Felicitation function for new CFA Charter holders from the region and also recognized those who passed Level 3. S.V. Balachander, CFA, Founder & Managing Director JMN Investments Research and Amit Khurana, CFA, Director, IAIP graced the occasion and handed out the certificates.

Bala showed the first copy of Financial Analysts Journal and spoke about the humble beginnings of CFA Institute, emphasis on ethics and the amazing growth & reach it has established over the years. He highlighted how the balance of numbers is shifting from North America to Asia Pacific as many new charter holders are from Asia. He described the importance of volunteerism in the organization and why he volunteers. He detailed various opportunities available – starting with attending events, various committees one can be part of, participating in request for comments and being a speaker.

Amit said that we must express our gratefulness to all those who helped us in our journey to earn the charter. Family, friends, our workplace must have accommodated us so we could take time to prepare. He elaborated on various initiatives taken in the IAIP such as the employee outreach program. He said that many local chapters are now becoming active.

Three new charter holders – Varun Verma, Govind Sharma and Ravi Saraogi – were given the Charter certificates. Level 3 pass outs who were present were given a framed copy of the CFA Code of Ethics. All members introduced themselves. The event was followed by a networking dinner.
