Kazi has ~29 years of experience in private equity and investment banking having led PE investments aggregating to over USD 200 m in diverse sectors such as business services, consumer services, renewable energy, telecoms, industrials / manufacturing and retail with full deal life cycle experience. He has closed deals in several genres including buy-outs, cross border carve-outs, roll-ups, minority later-stage growth capital, early stage and platform investments.
Kazi is currently a Partner at GestAlt Network, a private investment partnership. Prior to co-founding GestAlt Network in early 2017, Kazi served as Managing Director, Private Equity at Everstone Capital (www.everstonecapital.com), a leading India-focussed mid-market private equity fund where he worked for over nine years and prior to that as Associate Director at ICICI Venture (2005-2007), the private equity arm of ICICI Bank (www.iciciventure.com) and at the time the largest domestic private equity fund manager in India by AUM. He had earlier spent 9 years on sell side advisory with ANZ Investment Bank / ANZ Grindlays Bank. He also currently serves on the Investment Committee of Mount Judi Ventures, a Bangalore-based VC fund and on the Board of Directors of Ascentios Advisors (https://www.ascentios.in) which acts as Investment Manager to two category II AIFs registered with SEBI, namely Arpwood Partners Fund I LLP and Arpwood Partners Fund I (https://vixar.com).
Kazi holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (1996) and was awarded a Bachelor of Technology degree with Honours in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur (1994). He has been a CFA Charterholder (charter awarded by CFA Institute, US) since 2001 and served as a Founder Director of the CFA Society India (legally incorporated as the Indian Association of Investment Professionals) in 2005-06. He has also successfully completed the NISM-Series-XIX-C certification as required for alternative asset managers under SEBI regulations
