A Workshop on Advanced Credit Analysis | Mumbai
CFA Society India is pleased to bring a workshop on the fundamentals of credit analysis.
The session will focus on assessing Credit Risk, building from first principles and breaking it down into its various components. These would entail delving into Business Risk Analysis, comparing sectors and assessing relative risk, financial risk analysis and cash flow forecasting, incorporating linkages between parent and subsidiaries, evaluating Complex group structures and understanding Related Party Transactions. We would also delve into evaluating project specific risks in balance sheets and look at the nuances of assessing Project Specific Structures in Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
Please note that there will be no entity specific discussion and the views expressed would rely on the Criteria and Methodologies of India Ratings and Research Private Limited

Rakesh Valecha,
Senior Director and Head – Core Analytical Group, India Ratings & Research
Rakesh Valecha is Senior Director and Head of the Core Analytical Group at India Ratings & Research (Ind-Ra). In this role, he oversees thematic credit, fixed income and currency research with a focus on providing fundamental insights to investors on the functioning of India’s debt capital markets. His role involves extensive interaction with investors and media to firmly establish Ind-Ra as a brand associated with thought leadership in the analytical space. Rakesh is a senior member of the analytical team and a member of the Rating Committees across verticals. He has been with the Ind-Ra for close to 25 years and his overall experience in the BFSI Sector is close to 27 years. Previously, Rakesh was Senior Director and Head for India Ratings’ Corporate ratings group. He had the overall day-to-day operational responsibility for the group’s portfolio of ratings and has been pivotal in laying the foundations of Ind-Ra’s (earlier known as Fitch Ratings India Private Limited) strong ratings and research team, which is one of the best in the industry. Rakesh has worked closely with the Asia Corporate team at Fitch Ratings and was also a member of the Rating Committees for Asia-Pacific Corporates. Rakesh was previously in the project finance practice at IDBI, where he worked on assignments relating to project financing. An Engineer from the Delhi College of Engineering, Rakesh started his career with L&T and went on to earn his Post Graduation degree in Finance from the Bharathidasan University, Trichy. A speaker at several coveted events & seminars, his views have often been quoted and shared in print & electronic media on various occasions.
