Special Situation Investing and Alternative Investing is different from a plain vanilla strategy. This opportunity arises primarily because of a corporate event, announcement, or restructuring leading to changes in the capital structure or Management, or both. It is a very lucrative, and low-risk investment approach that offers returns regardless of how the indices outperform in the medium to long term. The profit potential is from the Corporate Event and not the business operations. Developed markets like the U.S. have 30% AUM dedicated to such opportunities. India is still at a very nascent stage in Alternative investments and offers tremendous opportunities for generating equity returns in the future.

Arun Malhotra
Mr. Arun Malhotra is the Founder and CIO of CapGrow Capital Advisors LLP. He has over 30 years of experience sourcing investments in both primary and secondary markets, trading all forms of equity, convertible and credit instruments in secondary markets, and managing portfolios through multiple economic and business cycles. Before starting CapGrow in 2018, Arun worked at a hedge fund for 9 yrs as Director-Investments and managed his own family office for 4 years. Prior to that in 2005, Arun worked as a Pharma research analyst at Manning & Napier, a $30 bln fund based out of NYC, and sell-side for 9 yrs. Arun holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA from FMS Delhi, and a Graduate MBA from the Simon School of Business, Univ. of Rochester, NYC.
