CFA Society India is pleased to announce the upcoming webinar “Practitioners’ Insights: Investing in Gold”. Gold is dear to most Indians. Yet, from an asset allocation perspective, there is a risk that gold may not be getting the attention it deserves. In this webinar, among others, Krishna Hegde, CFA will address the following important questions on Gold.

Krishna Hegde, CFA is President-Consumer at MMTC-PAMP, India’s largest gold refiner. He is responsible for the minted products, digital gold and recycling businesses. Krishna has leadership experience at global financial services organisations as well as at Indian fintech start-ups. He was most recently at Novopay as Chief Business Officer, responsible for the Retail Payments Business as well as all Corporate Functions. Prior to Novopay, he was Senior Vice President at Paytm and led the launch of multiple financial services including Paytm Postpaid & Digital Gold. Krishna was also Managing Director & Head of Asia Credit Research at Barclays based in Singapore and had been ranked as one of Asia’s top credit strategists by The Asset Magazine for multiple years. Krishna graduated with a Bachelors in Engineering (Hons) from BITS Pilani, and completed his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College where he was an Edward Tuck Scholar with Distinction. He is a CFA® charterholder.

Kazi Arif Uz Zaman, CFA is a partner at GestAlt Network, a Bangalore-based investment partnership. Kazi has ~24 years of experience in private equity and investment banking having led PE investments aggregating to over USD 200 m in diverse sectors such as business services, consumer services, renewable energy, telecoms, industrials/ manufacturing and retail with full deal life cycle experience. Kazi has also been an active angel investor in the fintech space. Prior to co-founding GestAlt Network in early 2017, Kazi served as Managing Director, Private Equity at Everstone Capital, a leading India-focused mid-market private equity fund where he worked for over nine years and prior to that as Associate Director at ICICI Venture (2005-2007), the private equity arm of ICICI Bank and at the time the largest domestic private equity fund manager in India by AUM. He had earlier spent 9 years on sell side advisory with ANZ Investment Bank / ANZ Grindlays Bank advising on consummated deals valued at over USD 10 billion in India, South East Asia, UK, and sub-Saharan Africa. Kazi holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (1996) and was awarded a Bachelor of Technology degree with Honours in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur (1994). He has served as a Founder Director of the CFA Society India (legally incorporated as the Indian Association of Investment Professionals) in 2004-05.
