After being a wholesale banker for most of my career, I decided only very recently to move into the investment space. I have conceptualised, set up and now head the alternative asset desk at my firm. I passed Level 2 exam over a decade ago, but then never got around to giving an earnest effort to cross the final hurdle. In my new role, I quickly realised that working towards obtaining the charter would have significant advantages. At the same time, I knew that taking on this commitment together with demands on the work and family front wouldn’t be anything like how it was preparing a decade ago. I attribute achieving this goal to meticulous planning, consistency in execution and tremendous support from the family. To me, the effort has been extremely gratifying and definitely worth it!
